Early Life and Biography
Angela Evelyn Bassett was born on the 16th day of August 1958 in New York City. Her father, Daniel Benjamin Bassett was a civil servant while her mum, Betty Jane, served as a social worker.
Ten months after her birth, Angela’s mum got pregnant, and the young Angela was sent away to stay with her aunt, whom she lived with for several years. Soon, Angela’s parents got divorced and she relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida with her sister, and they were raised by a social worker.
Angela Bassett attended a number of schools such as Boca Ciega High School, where he had her high school education. Her mother encouraged Angela and her sister D’nette to get good grades to get admitted into the university.
Angela was a top student during her high school years. She scored mostly As and Bs on her papers and was a member of the cheerleading squad.
It became clear to the family what Angela’s interests were as she would read poems, and perform shows and music in their home. After graduating from Grace Hopper College, Angela attended Yale University for her higher education.
