Early Life and Biography

Dimitri Leslie Roger (popularly known as “Rich The Kid”) was born on July 13, 1992, in Queens, New York City. While he is an American, he is of Haitian descent and can speak Haitian Creole fluently.

Dimitri lived in New York for most part of his childhood. His parents divorced when he was 13. After the divorce, he stayed with his mother, who relocated to College Park, Georgia.

Dimitri attended Elmonth Memorial Junior-Senior High School in Elmont New York. There, he had his first encounter with music. At the age of 15, he worked at Wendy’s but there, he realized that wasn’t the kind of life he wanted for himself.

His dream of becoming a famous musician was never going to be achieved at Wendy’s. At 16, he had his first studio session and began making rap music.

Growing up, Rich The Kid listened to several famous artists. He drew musical inspiration from artists like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G, Nas, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, T.I, and Young Jeezy.

His first stage name was Black Boy Da Kid but later he switched to Rich The Kid.

Career

Rich The Kid released his first solo mixtape “Been About The Benjamins” in 2013. In the same year, he released a collaborative mixtape “Streets On Lock (Vol 1 & 2)” with the music group Migos. Volumes 3 and 4 of the mixtape were released in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Personal Life

A peek into Roger’s life shows that he hasn’t had the best of relationships. Rich the Kid was formerly married to Antoinette Willis and they had two children, a boy and a girl. In March 2018, Antoinette filed for divorce, accusing her husband of infidelity and cheating on her with Blac Chyna and India Love.

She alleged that Roger was in a relationship with Blac Chyna. Later, she stated that he abused her and forced her into having abortions severally.

While filing for divorce, she sought full physical custody and spousal support, while giving Rich The Kid visitation rights and joint legal custody.

Shortly after the filing of the divorce, Rich the Kid started dating Tori Hughes, popularly known as Tori Brixx.

On June 15, 2018, Roger was hospitalized after Tori’s home was invaded by unknown men carrying firearms. Apparently, they were armed robbers, as they demanded money from him upon entering his home. The man beat him heavily and left with a huge amount of money and jewelry.

On December 29, 2018, Roger was involved in a UTV accident in Calabasas, California, after losing control of the Polaris RZR-4 wheeler he was driving. According to reports from TMZ, he was in the car with a friend but fell off after losing control of the vehicle. He was hospitalized after the accident.

In February 2019, Rich the Kid was robbed and shot outside the Westlake Recording Studio in West Hollywood, California. Fortunately, he survived.
