Tinubu Orders States to Pay Workers What They’re Worth

In an effort to alleviate the economic hardships experienced by the general public, President Bola Tinubu has pleaded with the 36 governors of the Federation to initiate the payment of wage awards to workers while the new minimum wage is determined.

Without inducing inflationary pressures, the president said, the states might have provided much-needed relief by implementing the wage awards.

President Muhammadu Buhari said that all states should implement the wage award and that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) would do the same while speaking Monday in Minna, the capital of Niger State, at the flag-off of the agricultural mechanization revolution for food security and the commissioning of the remodelled domestic terminal of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport.

As for the subnationals, he warned them that they would be on the hook for the award’s salaries until the new salary wage was determined. The salary award needs to be paid by all the states. Citizens would feel relief from whatever it is they are currently taking on top of the pay award.
