Job Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for providing one-on-one assistance to teens and children residing in municipal camps. Developing a rapport with each camper and making sure they have the resources they need to fully participate is something you’ll be really passionate about. You will collaborate closely with other camp employees to ensure that your child and the entire camp have an unforgettable time. You have no problem falling for the “if at first you don’t succeed… try, try, again!” mentality and acting foolishly.

Work Duties:

Evaluates the individual’s accommodation plan in order to become acquainted with their background, hobbies, skills, requirements, etc.
Participant support for program activities is provided in accordance with their individual accommodation plans.
Gives program personnel recommendations for modifying programs and equipment so that participants can fully participate.
Guarantees that people are able to fully engage in the recreational program according to their own ability.
Ensures that all participants are safe and secure by keeping track of any problems and reporting them.
Taking into account the necessity for safety, takes into account the participant’s talents and limits, and then adjusts the program accordingly.

Helps people take care of their own personal hygiene (getting dressed, using the restroom, etc.).
Uses proper lifting tactics to help individuals get into and out of wheelchairs, toilets, and other such items.
Handles behavioral concerns and takes proactive measures to avoid them from getting worse.
Ensures everyone’s safety by responding to escalating situations (e.g., using approved physical intervention techniques).
Handles simple questions from participants and their families and, when necessary, directs more complex problems to a supervisor, manager, or coordinator.
Notifies coordinator, supervisor, or manager of any changes in participants’ mental or physical states as soon as they occur.

Makes sure everyone takes their medication as prescribed and keeps it in a safe place.
Checks that all areas are open and free of obstacles for those taking part.
As needed, fills out incident reports.
Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other first aid procedures as needed.
Carries out responsibilities in a way that respects the company’s policy on intellectual property.
Carries out a variety of related tasks as required.
Karna Consulting Corp., 11025–26 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, ABT6J 5V3, is now hiring for a variety of positions.

Things needed:

Must have completed at least 12th grade and up to 1 year of postsecondary study directly connected to the occupation.
At least one month of relevant work experience, preferably more, plus an adjustment period of one to six months
Ability to present a satisfactory Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) issued after March 1, 2024, upon conditional offer. Post-hire, City of Kitchener approved behaviour management certification (e.g., PMAB, BMS, NVCI). Valid CPR Level “C” and Standard First Aid Certificate.
Candidates holding a valid Class G driver’s license and able to provide their own transportation throughout the job period will be given priority.
Must have a solid work history, positive attitude, and be dependable.
Necessary Physical Conditions:

Capable of lifting 35 pounds without assistance.
Sufficient swimming and support skills for use in water.
Vaccinations such as the TDAP, MMR, chickenpox, and hepatitis B should be up-to-date and valid during the duration of employment.
Conditions of Work:

Various municipal recreation places, such as golf courses, community centers, swimming pools, and outdoor areas, are utilized for work.
Wearing disposable gloves while helping participants with self-care in restrooms exposes you to potential exposure to bodily fluids and waste.

Wearing protective arm guards is a must for working with participants who may bite or scratch.
Completes tasks while according to OSHA regulations.
Work Schedule: June 17, 2024–August 30, 2024 (beginning and ending dates to be finalized)
Workweek duration: 35 hours (starting in July)
Work hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (participants’ requirements may determine the exact schedule, which may include nighttime shifts).
Scheduled training sessions: June 19–29.
Maximum of 35 hours per week for training
Hourly wages in 2024 range from $20.755 to $25.946.

Further Details:

You will receive a more comprehensive training program once you are hired. The training schedule is Monday through Friday. It is imperative that all training, whether conducted in-person or online, be finished before the program or camp begins.
July 1 and August 5 are statutory holidays.
Based on program needs, the contract could be extended to include the dates of August 26, 2024, to August 30, 2024.

The demands of the participants determine the hours of labor. Between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, camp programs are held.

There will be some evening work involved (we meet weekly from 5:30 to 6:30).
