The holy month of Ramadan, according to the Islamic lunar calendar 1445, begins on Monday, March 11, 2024, with the sighting of the Crescent Moon in Saudi Arabia.
Previously, Muslim faithful around the world were alerted to report any sightings of the moon in preparation for the hallowed month of piety and sacrifice in Islam.
In Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Saa’d Abubakar III, who also serves as President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has urged followers to keep an eye out for the moon.
The appearance of the moon on Sunday marks the beginning of Ramadhān at midnight, with taraweeh prayers following Isha’i prayers.
According to LEADERSHIP, Saudi Arabia has announced that the holy month of Ramadan will begin on Monday, March 11, following the sighting of the crescent by the moon-sighting committee.

According to the Saudi Supreme Court, the crescent was seen on Sunday evening (March 10), which also marks the end of the Islamic month of Sha’ban.
